7.1 Surround Sound Test Download
I am using VideoLan Player (VLC) version 2.2.1 (the latest version, as of Aug 2015) as my test tool. The DTS file is reported by VLC as only 5.1 (3F2R/LFE) The Dolby TrueHD is reported by VLC as 7.1 (3F2M2R/LFE) The Dolby comes through correctly, with 7 discrete speakers.

7.1 Audio Test
That plays the True HD formats VLC won't play. The thing is. Connecting my Samsung one connect TV to HDMI is great and all but I can't seem to get DTS-HD or True Audio into the Marantz using the one connect device meaning I must either use a really long HDMI cable and connect it to my PC or buy something that can actually pass the codecs into the Marantz directly like maybe a KDlinks 400 device. 
Of course buying an official blu ray player is always on the table but that's no fun. So I use PLEX to stream some movies and shows into the One Connect into the Marantz and I have noticed I really don't think it has ever used HD audio and I don't know what light on the 7012 would even light up since it's possibly never happened.
